Pest control companies tackle mice control several different ways. Many companies come in, quickly determine where most of the mice activity has been (usually by just asking the customer), set down some rodenticide stations inside, place some mice bait stations outside, and tell the customer they will be back in a month to check everything. They charge significantly for this initial visit, and they continue to charge big bucks for those follow-up visits. Over time, the mice problem will probably eventually end, but during those several months, mice will continue to cause damage and contamination, as they die from poison in the home, often in inaccessible or unnoticed areas. We have seen them die up inside of couches, in kitchen cabinets, and numerous other unfortunate places. The notion that mice will leave the home in search of water before they die is simply not true. Mice die from rodenticide inside homes all the time, usually causing a terrible smell for 3-4 weeks while they decompose.
We have a vastly different approach that is way faster, safer for the customer, a better long-term solution, and often cheaper due to fewer or no follow-up visits being needed. Once we arrive, we will discuss the situation with the customer to determine the best plan of attack. Based on that information, we will set up clean, sanitary trapping stations that can be used inside the house in all of the areas mice activity has been found.
The next part of the inspection is the most important which is outside. This is the part of the process where our company really shines the most. There are many common access points such as damaged weather stripping on the garage door or gaps around where the air conditioning lines enter the house. But there are a lot of other potential problem spots where mice frequently get in too – even in brand new homes. As problems are discovered, we will seal up small issues, and if there are larger repairs needed, those concerns will be clearly documented on the inspection form, so the customer knows if anything still needs to be done.
Kevin; the company owner, has extensive background experiences that greatly aid with the inspection and permanent results. He has a carpentry degree and built/remodeled houses. He worked as a licensed home inspector doing both real estate transaction inspections and wood destroying organism inspections/reports. This background has provided the perfect foundation for not only understanding how a home should be sealed up, but also making it easier to identify unique problem areas and obscure/hidden likely entry points.
After the inspections and repairs, we will set up professional grade, exterior bait stations. The stations are typically set up in discreet locations around the perimeter of the home. They are locked, heavy duty, and bolted to a heavy concrete paver, and the bait inside is secured in a way that prevents mice from dragging it back out where a non-target animal can access it. Bait stations are the absolute best long-term solution for controlling the mice population near your home. Fewer mice mean less mice potentially running around on outdoor furniture, BBQ grills, or getting into parked vehicles. We recommend that the stations are serviced five times per year, and we will give you a written, no-pressure quote to provide that service. We will NEVER pressure you into any ongoing service you do not want.
When the customer is on board with our plan, our success rate for eliminating a mice infestation is 100%. The average time for the full inspection and setup is 1.5 – 2.5 hours. The average total cost to eliminate the infestation varies from house to house, depending on us obtaining answers to a few short questions such as how long the problem has been going on, square footage and footprint of home and where mice have been seen, what have you done so far to remedy the situation on your own, etc. The average time to be mice-free is 5-7 days, and our mice control customers consistently give us 5-star Google reviews.
